Deputy minister of industry, mines and energy and member of parliament Gaudentia Krohne says Namibia’s path to economic growth lies in industrial development, local beneficiation and renewable energy expansion.
Krohne was speaking in the National Assembly this week.
Krohne said the mines ministry is committed to creating jobs, empowering local businesses and ensuring that Namibia’s vast mineral wealth and emerging energy sector benefit all citizens.
“It is not enough to simply extract resources, we must ensure they contribute meaningfully to national development,” she said.
Krohne outlined key priorities aligned with the 2025/26 budget, which projects gross domestic product growth of 4.5% in 2025 and 4.7% in 2026. She stressed the need for responsible mining, increased local value addition, and improved energy access through renewable solutions.
She also pledged to support industrial growth by investing in manufacturing, enhancing support for small and medium enterprises, and attracting both local and foreign investment.
