Miss Namibia 2023 Jameela Uiras recently became the first title holder who will be able to keep a car after her year of reign.

This was announced during a prize-giving ceremony in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The ceremony was well attended by main sponsors Debmarine Namibia, other sponsors, Miss Namibia’s chief executive, the Miss Namibia top 3, Miss Teen Namibia, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation’s management, staff, members of the media, and other guests.

“My love for my country runs deep, and this is one of the primary reasons for my participation in the pageant.

“I am motivated to put my country back on the map and portray it as the well put-together nation that it is.

“Additionally, I see this as an opportunity to enhance my personal brand as a model, providing me with a platform for growth and development,” Uiras said.

She said during her year she aims to use her voice and platform to make a positive impact in her community and showcase the beauty and potential of the country.

“As the reigning Miss Namibia, I strongly believe my duty extends beyond advocacy, and I am committed to offering assistance and support wherever I can. This may involve collaborating with various foundations that align with different causes,” she said.

NBC chief commercial officer Nico Mwiya said Miss Namibia’s motto is ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, signifying that the national pageant is about more than just external appearances.

“The pageant is a heartfelt celebration of inner strength, confidence, and charisma. Each of the remarkable individuals before us, like precious diamonds, has revealed that beauty transcends the superficial.

“It reflects character, passion, and the profound ability to inspire and create a meaningful impact,” he said.

Miss Namibia chief executive Umbi Karuaihe-Upi expressed appreciation of the pageant’s primary sponsor, Debmarine Namibia.

Gratitude was further extended to Coca Cola Beverages Namibia and Pupkewitz Toyota which have been steadfast partners for over a decade, as well as to other sponsors.

“Thank you to all our sponsors, because your support has been pivotal in bringing this beautiful event to life,” Karuaihe-Upi said.

NBC director general Stanley Similo encouraged young women around the country to participate in upcoming pageants.

Debmarine Namibia chief executive Willie Mertend reiterated the company’s commitment to the upliftment and empowerment of women.
