R&B artist Monika Ndeshitala Absalom, better known as Mo, has released her third single titled ‘Are You Okay’, an inspirational anthem encouraging many to continue checking up on their friends.
In an interview with unWrap.online this week, Mo says writing the lyrics of the song came easy because the lyrical content consists of real-life stories.
“In the song, I am basically just saying ‘yes, we might be going through some things, but we need to check up on each other’ because we will never know what people are going through. I might be here today but tomorrow I am not,” she says.
She says there are people out there who look fine on the outside but are in need of a listening ear and don’t know where or who to turn to.
“Let us just make it a habit to find out if our closest people are fine because looks can be deceiving. You will never know what that phone call or message will mean to the next person.”
The single was produced by Mr Andrew on The Beat and the music video was shot by Spectrum Media in collaboration with Mepani M Productions.
Mo hosted a release party on Saturday at Experience Lounge in Windhoek and artists such as Nally, Ethnix, Teqla and Jay K Nakaye graced the stage.
So far, Mo says she has received positive feedback from music lovers who can relate to the song.
“It was received well. People love it and can relate to it a lot. People would call and just catch up, asking what made me come up with such a track. They said it really lifted them up and that it came at the right time,” she says.
Now that she has released her third single, the sky is the limit for Mo, who plans on releasing her first EP in the next three months. – unWrap.online
