THE Moria Grace Trust is raising funds for a new building that will accommodate more than 500 vulnerable children and provide pre-school and kindergarten facilities, a health clinic, a vegetable garden and a craft centre.
Up to now Wilhelmina and Boetie Afrikaner, who founded Moria Grace in 1986, have been housing about 150 children at their shelter in Windhoek. They are also caring for about 25 older children on a piece of land near Groot Aub, which was donated to them back in 1989.The new erf in Katutura was donated to Moria Grace by a businessman two years ago, and foundations and a wall around the property have already been built with donations raised so far.The trust plans to host a fundraiser known as the Grace Ball on March 30.It hopes to raise money at this event for the building project and the operating costs of the shelter.Therefore, companies and individuals are invited to support the fundraiser and to make contributions to the trust.The first contribution has already come in from the Windhoek 34 Round Table, which raised N$70 000 for the building costs.Contributions can be made to: Moria Grace Trust, Standard Bank, Cheque account number: 042 743 710, Branch code: 082772.They are also caring for about 25 older children on a piece of land near Groot Aub, which was donated to them back in 1989.
