Young, hardworking Moses Garab received a bursary from the Social Security Commission (SSC) in 2012, initially to study an introduction to engineering studies bridging programme.
This year his bursary was extended because he impressed his sponsors with his determination and his attitude to succeed. Moses will be furthering his studies by embarking on a Bachelor of Engineering: Electric Power degree upon his successful completion of the bridging programme.
He said that he has been doing well despite the work being challenging at times.
“I have been managing well with the studies. Although I have not received any recognition yet, I am satisfied with my performance so far. I have not repeated any course yet and achieved higher than a credit level in all my courses thus far obtaining distinctions in several,” he said.
“When thinking about challenges he said that he did not receive the prescribed books for his courses in time and it was challenging for him to follow up with what is being taught during class time without some reference to the class notes.
“I’m thankful to the SSC for the help that they have offered me. It is more than I could have asked for. It is thanks to them that I am able to give my studies all my attention without having to worry about how I am going to take care of my tuition fees.
“I’m grateful and appreciative of the opportunity that the commission has given me to continue my studies. I hope that they will be assisting more students in the future that are in financial need,” he concluded.
