Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has become the first telecommunications company in Namibia and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to achieve full certification from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
ISO is an independent organisation that sets internationally recognised standards for businesses of all sizes and sectors.
According to a statement issued by the company on Monday, the achievement contributes to the overall improvement of industrial welfare, safety and security on a global scale.
MTC managing director Licky Erastus said the company is committed to continuous improvement.
“We are the first in Namibia and in SADC to achieve certification for six standards at the same time, as well as the first in Africa to achieve certification of our Integrated Management System with version 2022,” said Erastus.
According to the statement, this achievement contributes to the overall improvement of industrial welfare, safety and security on a global scale.
“We are not only the first in Namibia to achieve full ISO certification, but we are also constantly staying ahead of the curve. This ensures we remain competitive and offer the most reliable and secure telecommunication services in the market.”
MTC has implemented quality management, occupational health and safety management, environment management information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection management business continuity, security and resilience management and information technology service management standards.
“Due to shifts in the management world, institutions must continuously stay updated with changing policies to maintain ISO certification. Thus, MTC is the only telco in Namibia which has its entire operations ISO-certified,” noted the statement.
