MultiChoice Namibia to host two-day film festival

Roger Gertze

MultiChoice Namibia has announced it will host a two-day film festival on 28 and 29 September.

The event, which is open to the public for free, will take place at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) in Windhoek.

The festival aims to bring together film-makers, industry experts, and cinema lovers to celebrate storytelling through the art of film.

One of the key highlights will be the recognition of productions created under MultiChoice Namibia’s local content project, ‘Ombura’.

The festival will feature movie screenings, discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, giving participants a chance to learn more about film-making.

Attendees will also get to enjoy interactive experiences throughout the two days.

MultiChoice Namibia’s managing director, Roger Gertze, has emphasised the importance of the festival in celebrating Namibian stories.

“With a rich tapestry of diverse cultures and narratives, the festival promises to captivate audiences while creating an exciting platform that not only tells Namibian stories but also celebrates productions from our local content project,” Gertze said.

Some of these productions will be available on DStv, GOtv, and Showmax in October.

On the second day, the festival will close with an open fun day at the FNCC, featuring live music, activities for all ages, and an outdoor screening of a Namibian film.

Alongside premieres of the latest feature films, the event will also showcase works by young film-makers who have received financial support from MultiChoice.
