Mulunga’s suspension extended until end of September

Immanuel Mulunga

The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has extended the suspension of its managing director, Immanuel Mulunga, until 30 September.

The decision, the Namcor board says, was made after it received additional details and findings from an independent investigation.

“In light of these findings, the board will deliberate and determine the most appropriate course of action.
We understand the interest and concerns regarding this issue, and we are committed to ensuring transparency and upholding our corporation’s integrity,” the board said in a statement today.

In April, Mulunga was suspended by Namcor due to allegations of an unauthorised payment of N$100 million for an oil block in Angola.

Despite these allegations, the Anti-Corruption Commission cleared Mulunga of criminal intent last month, stating that he acted in the best interest of the state-owned enterprise and the country.
