Muniaro elected NUNW SG

Job Muniaro has been elected as the Secretary-General of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) .

He was elected Secretary-General (SG) during the NUNW congress, which started in Swakopmund on Tuesday.

Muniaro has been acting as SG since Alfred Angula was suspended from the union in 2013 on allegations of fraud.

Angula replaced former NUNW Secretary-General Evilastus Kaaronda, who was expelled in 2012.

Muniaro obtained 123 votes, beating John Ndeutapo who obtained 85 votes.

He is deputised by Tame Severeni.

The three-day congress also voted for Ismael Kasuto as NUNW president. He beat Lazalus Nangolo by three votes to obtain 134 votes.

Kasuto replaces Connie Pandeni, who did not contest the position.

The first and second president positions went to Albert Liswanizo and Phillip Munenguni respectively, while Barbara van der Westhuizen maintained her position as treasurer.

Ndeshihafela Maputa is the vice-treasurer.
