Namcol donates AS-level study materials to Rundu Senior Secondary, while Nkutu receives toilets

GIFTED … Rundu Senior Secondary School on Friday received a donation of Advanced Subsidiary level study materials from Namcol.

Rundu Senior Secondary School in the Kavango East region on Friday received study materials worth N$25 000 from Namcol, for pupils doing Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level.

The donation was made at the Namcol Rundu Centre.

“We have depended on Namcol materials for so long, and we thank you so much because this donation means a lot to us. We hope to keep this good working relationship because when you donate, it simply means you are working together,” said Blasius Haita, a commerce teacher at the school.

He said the school has a large number of pupils doing AS, thus they are in need of textbooks.

Meanwhile, local law firm Bernhard Tjatjata Legal Practioners donated six sets of toilet to Nkutu Primary School, situated in the Kavango West region, to construct flush ablution facilities.

The toilets are worth N$10 000.

The school currently uses pit latrine toilets and the bush when nature calls.

Pupil Andreas Haita thanked the company for the donation on behalf of the school.

He said although the government advocates equality in Namibia, Nkutu Primary School is not equal to other schools in the country due to a lack of resources.

“The vulnerability of this school has no seasons because it is a lifelong living style. When it is winter, we are affected by the cold. When it is summer, we are affected by the heat. When it is raining, we are affected by the showers. Our health is also in danger because of the nature of the toilets we are using,” the pupil said.
