FOOD processing company Namib Mills will reduce the prices of rice and pasta products by not less than 5% as of 17 April.
According to a statement issued by the company, a variety of factors have driven down the prices, and the company is passing the benefits to consumers “in line with our vision of feeding the nation”.
The company said the main driving factors contributing to price decreases are that the overall input costs for manufacturing pasta and procuring noodles have decreased to such an extent that the company can lower prices accordingly.
The company further said global rice prices decreased following increased global supply and record production in India.
“Given these facts, we, therefore, announce that the average price decreases for rice will range from 5% to 6%, Pasta Polana 9% to 11%, King Pasta 9% to 11% and Polana Instant noodles 15%.
“Orders will be executed at the existing prices up to the close of business on Friday, 14 April,” said the company.
Namib Mills said new prices for food products will be announced soon.
