The Tanzania-Namibia business and investment forum to be held in Windhoek tomorrow is set to highlight investment opportunities for both countries.
To be held under the theme ‘Accelerating Investment and Trade between Tanzania and Namibia for Economic Development’, the forum will culminate in the signing of an agreement between the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC).
According to the joint draft programme issued by hosts NIPDB, top government officials and captains of industry from both countries are expected to make presentations.
Tanzanian high commissioner Caesar Waitara is expected to deliver welcoming remarks, while Kitila Mkumbo, Tanzania’s minister of planning and investment, as well as Obeth Kandjoze, the director general of the National Planning Commission of Namibia, are expected to make presentations.
Nangula Uaandja, the chairperson of the NIPDB, is expected to discuss investment opportunities in Namibia, while John Mnali, the director of investment promotion at the Tanzanian TIC, will provide a broad overview of the investment opportunities and business climate in Tanzania.
Also discussing investment opportunities in public-private partnership (PPP) projects in Tanzania will be David Kafulila, the executive director of the PPP Centre in Tanzania.
In addition to presentations, there will be round-table discussions on investment and trade opportunities in the agriculture, fishing and livestock industries.
Another round-table discussion will look at investment and trade opportunities in minerals and tourism, with panellists drawn from both countries.
The third round-table discussion will be centred around investment opportunities in infrastructure and transport.
Ambassador John Ulanga, the director of international trade and economic diplomacy at Tanzania’s ministry of foreign affairs, and Charity Mwiya, the chief executive of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will deliver closing remarks for the day-long proceedings.
