Namibia has potential to train best army officials in SADC – Mbumba

President Nangolo Mbumba says the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) has the potential to train the best senior officers in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

He was speaking at the Senior Command and Staff Course graduation ceremony in Windhoek on Friday, in which 30 senior officers graduated.

The Namibia Command and Staff College is an academic tri service college of the NDF, which provides staff training and education to officers.

Mbumba, who is also the commander-in-chief of the NDF, said: “It is a clear testimony that you heeded the instructions given to you by my brother, the late president Hage Gottfried Geingob, who during the inauguration ceremony of this institution on 17 October, 2019, said: ‘Warfare is always changing, always evolving and never constant. Therefore, in order to maintain vigilance and preparedness, our brave men and women must keep up with changing practices, warfare and the world at large’.”

Mbumba thanked the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs and the chief of defence for ensuring the institution produces the best Namibia can offer to defend the country’s territorial integrity and guarantee the safety and security of its citizens.
