Namibia is scheduled to conduct its Presidential and National Assembly elections on 27 November.
The announcement was made by urban and rural development minister Erastus Uutoni during the launch of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) 2024 electoral calendar in Windhoek on Thursday.
ECN chairperson Elsie Nghikembua said the voters’ cards issued since 2015 are no longer valid and will not be accepted at the November polls.
“If you are not registered, you will not be able to vote,” Nghikembua said.
The general voter registration period will be from 3 June to 1 August.
The nomination of independent candidates will take place on 14 October, while the nomination for political parties is set for 16 October and voting for Namibians abroad and seafarers is on 13 November.
All eligible Namibians are expected to register afresh for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
This year’s elections will make use of manual ballot papers and not electronic voting machines
