Namibian and Zambian police recover stolen stock

The Namibian and Zambian police, through a joint operation, recovered 72 stolen animals over the weekend.

A total of 47 sheep and 25 goats valued at N$128 500, have been stolen in the Zambezi region and taken to Zambia.

Regional police spokesperson inspector Kisco Sitali on Tuesday said the police, along with their Zambian counterparts, started tracing the stolen animals on Sunday.

He said this led them to Kaanja village in Zambia’s Nangweshi district, where they found the livestock.

“Two Zambian nationals were arrested and are in Zambian police custody. It seems as though they have already sold 13 sheep, as we only found 47 in their procession.

“We have repatriated the livestock and returned them to their rightful owner,” he said.
