Namibian child actress keeps shining

JOHANNESBURG-BASED Namibian child actress Rose Bimpe, is set to feature in yet another film, this one sponsored by an American investor.

The latest movie is scheduled to be shot in April and the producer has worked on many popular films and has also worked with many well-known South African faces on TV.

Her excited mother Ndama Davids, who is also Rose’s momager, said Bimpe has got a lot lined up in film.

“Rose has worked on Mzansi Magic films and the next film is going to be showcased on a bigger platform. We are withholding further information because the producers didn’t grant this interview but it’s an artist’s story only.”

According to Davids, the young actress has to shoot only for specific hours on weekends because she attends formal school.

“In December, Rose shot another Mzansi Magic approved movie. We can’t wait for release details,” said Davids.

As a sympathiser for mental health, Davids said she always supports Rose and makes sure she is ready and wants to act.

“We prepare and go through the script first and then we take it from there. She is always excited and I only encourage her.”

Unlike many children of her age, Rose barely wants to play dress-up for dolls. She rather plays acting. You will just hear “Sound speeding, camera rolling … and action” whenever she plays.

“And while I thought Rose was an extrovert, she actually enjoys time alone and is not into friends. You have to beg her to play with another child,” Davids said.

Rose who turns seven next month, is a Namibian, who also holds South African citizenship. She relocated from Windhoek with her mother a little over two years ago.

“Our focus remains. I really want Rose to go to Hollywood. And I know she will. It’s the faith and hard work we put in,” said her momager.

“I believe it can be done. I came to South Africa to align my dreams to those of my daughter, knowing no one in the industry. Now Rose shoots alongside the well-known. It’s the hard work and faith for me.

“In school, Rose is an A student and loves books. She is either watching cartoons, on her books or here and there playing acting,” stated Davids.
