Namibian fellow wins in Kenya

A fellow at the Namibia Media Trust’s NXT Journalism Hub won the Newsroom Challenge at the All Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, last week.

Winner Nelago Johannes says: “My idea stemmed from an unlikely source in this competition – law.

“Despite not being entrenched in the media or technology sectors, I found myself drawn to the challenge of engaging young people with mainstream news media.”

The competition was open to all young Africans from 18 to 35 years old from across Africa’s 54 countries.

The challenge was inspired by initiatives such as the Africa Free Trade Continental Area agreement, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for Agenda 2030.

The NXT Journalism Hub is the Namibia Media Trust’s official training arm.
