Namibian launches ‘The Bombas’ wines

Namibian Sanet Bombas will launch a wine range, called ‘The Bombas,’ in Windhoek on Saturday.

The range, which is produced in South Africa, is owned by the Damara woman, who started off as a beautician at Swakopmund.

Her wine range includes a cap classique, a merlot and a sauvignon blanc.

Bombas describes the wines as luxurious, classic, flavourful and exotic.

She says the range was inspired by her love for champagne.

“I fell in love with the idea of owning my own cap classique wine, which then led to me also owning a merlot and a cabernet sauvignon. I chose quality grapes at the winery, where the grapes undergo a double fermentation process in the bottle to ensure the natural occurrence of the flavours,” Bombas says.

She says although the wines are produced in South Africa, her ambition is to be able to stand alongside some of the world’s finest luxury brands.

Bombas says her range’s aromatic flavours are inspired by the dunes at Swakopmund.

“Whereas, for the rich taste of the sauvignon blanc, the inspiration draws from the farm where I always visited my grandparents. Bombas is my surname, which belonged to my grandparents and holds so many special and uplifting memories.

“We are a very small family from Khorixas, and it is for this reason I decided to expand and keep the legacy of our name by sharing a bottle of wine around the fire while singing, telling stories and bonding as a family,” she says.

Bombas says the packaging describes her personality – simple, but classy, elegant and unique.

“The flavours of the wines allow for any culinary outlet to pair it with a meal of choice, and there is no limit when treating yourself to a flavourful glass of wine.”
