Namibian Men Representing at the ASFAS

Through careful observation, you can really see Namibians are people who like to look good and make an effort when stepping out in public.

And although we might have been in the fashion shadows, for the first time this year, Namibia will be represented at the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAS). These awards aim to celebrate unique African style, fashion and art, and the people who are a part of it.

The event is organised by the Abryanz Franchise that also includes other brands like the Abryanz Collection stores and the Abryanz Charity Foundation.

The fashion celebration started in 2013, set out to recognise and honour fashion and for the past three years, the ASFAS have been making waves in the fashion scene in its country of origin, Uganda, and will take place there again this year.

The theme for 2016 is ‘Dress To Inspire’ and the ASFAS team said it is a goal for 2016 to “inspire, motivate, and ecourage more young people to not only get involved in the industry, but build a strong chain and bond that can help push the industry forward”.

“This year’s theme was something I chose particularly basing on the current events in my life. I have been lucky enough to get a lot of both local and international recognition because of my work. And I just felt it was only right that we put more energy into creating opportunities for fellow young people that would not only inspire but benefit them as well. And this is what the awards are aiming to do. We want to inspire the youth through fashion and style. I wanted to use my personal story to encourage others who want to make their lives better and meaningful,” ASFAS CEO Brian Ahunuza said.

Celebrating African style, fashion and art sure sounds exhilarating, and Namibia has even more reason to celebrate as four of the country’s men will be representing this year. Reinhard Mahalie, Luis Munana, Adriano Visagie and Lourens Gebhardt are the fashionable men who are holding up Namibia’s fashionable name.

According to abryanzstyleandfashionawards.com, voting can be done via the website abryanzstyleandfashionawards.com/myvote or on social media, Instagram and Twitter, using the hashtags #Asfas2016Nominee and #Asfa2016.
