Namibian music right now

Namibians are putting out hits, so we have kept our eyes and ears open, scoured the furthest corners of the internet and let artists harass us in the DM’s, all so we can bring together some of the hottest tracks out right now that we think our readers should hear.

We’ve ranked them in descending order of which you should hear first, meaning we’ve saved the best for last.

10. Deezy Poco Loco – Banana

This is an Afro-pop track with a little bit of a kick to it. This young new artist has ton of energy and the makings of an international superstar with his stylish dress code and cool dance moves. This song is super fun and a great indication of what’s to come from this new generation of Namibian vocalists.

9. Sam Lee feat. Famous – Painkiller

This promising upcoming act brings all the right vibes as he sings about love, life and loss on ‘Painkiller’, an Afro beat jam with elements of pop and RnB. It has a super-catchy chorus and almost unforgettable melody which is complemented well by the high quality visuals on YouTube.

8. Kurzca feat Costa Titch – Upakile

Kurzca is definitely one of Namibia’s hottest artists out right now, living large, bagging international features and leaving lasting impressions on all our minds. This song is sexy AF, Costa Titch balances it out perfectly, and the 50 Cent-approved sample fits right in with her sultry vocals.

7. DonKingPope, CanvasGreat, H.A.N.I VSOP and Kenny K – 24 Hours

This is a song for all the ragers. It’s intense, the base is hard and the rappers on the track sound like they are having the time of their lives. It has a very international feel to it, and it will make you wish the streets were open again. It’s paired with a really cool video, where you get a glimpse of the wild side of Windhoek.

6. KP Illest – Loco

If there’s one thing KP Illest knows how to do, it’s having a good time. Or at least that’s what we get to see in all his videos. This time around he’s back again with another high energy unmissable track and super good quality video to match with ‘Loco’!

5. Ethnix – Open Up

The king and queen of absolute fire, romance music have struck again. Julius’ obvious swag pairs so well with the effortlessly sexy Etjo to bring us high quality visuals, a tune that will be stuck in your head and the perfect blend of Oshiwambo and Otjiherero.

4. Princelou Faragama – Floranthem

This Canada-based artist has just been dropping bangers since emigrating. On ‘Floranthem’, his work with some Montreal creatives comes through clearly with its crisp sound and clean quality. It still sounds very much like Princelou, but on a new level.

3. Morenga – Lot

Morenga, formerly Loft, is an obvious pick for this list. His sound is the most out there, his energy is otherworldly and the attention to detail in his craft is hard to ignore. On ‘Lot’, he delivers that trap/hip-hop sound you’d want to listen to on loud-as-hell speakers. It’s definitely a head bop worthy track, that will have you missing partying till 3am.

2. Young T – Survival Mode

Young T really just makes music that speaks to the soul. There’s something about the way he puts his words together and he has absolutely unmissable harmonies that are hard to ignore. This might be one of the best tracks on his latest album ‘The Re-election’, as it further highlights his journey in music and his dreams to make it.

1. Ray Tiller – Let You Know

I keep hearing people say that Namibian R&B is dead, and I’m starting to think that nasty rumour exists because people aren’t paying enough attention. I’ve heard some good songs for the heart in my time on this earth, but let me tell you I was thoroughly impressed when I discovered Ray Tiller. He is my new favourite crooner and I think you should definitely play this song for anyone you’re trying to romance.
