The team behind the Namibian podcast ‘National Podcast’, launched in 2022 by Paul Shiweda (27) from the Oshana region, will collaborate with the international organisation, NextGen Impact, this year.
The podcast is aimed at motivating young people and giving them a platform to express themselves freely.
Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, Shiweda said the podcast covers a variety of topics – from politics to business start-ups and education.
The podcast is available on Facebook and YouTube on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, he said.
“The ‘National Podcast’ is now operating under Next Gen Impact Namibia project. This is a vibrant non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering positive change and empowerment within Namibian communities,” Shiweda said.
Through innovative projects in podcasting, the project deals with community support, education, sport, arts and culture.
“We aim to amplify voices, provide essential assistance, inspire learning and nurture talent. Our mission is simple, which is to create a brighter, more inclusive future for all Namibians, guided by our values of inclusivity, collaboration and compassion. Join us in our journey towards meaningful social impact,” he said.
According to Shiweda, they conduct interviews with inspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds. This includes discussions on important social issues, challenges and solutions, as well as sharing personal stories of resilience, success and impact.
“In our community project, we extend a helping hand to underprivileged families, providing support and assistance where it’s needed the most,” he said.
Shiweda said through their educational initiative, they engage with schools, students and educators to inspire, motivate and raise awareness.
COLLABORATION
Asked why Next Gen Impact collaborated with a Namibian podcast, Next Gen Impact founder Shin Thant Shwe Eain from Myanmar, said they were impressed by Shiweda’s generosity and motivational spirit.
“His energy and enthusiasm are truly inspiring, prompting me to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at fostering positive change. Moreover, I have consistently observed the ‘National Podcast’ team’s impactful contributions to the youth community in Namibia,” Eain said.
Eain added that their project ideas are remarkable, reflecting a commitment to empowering young people.
“As an advocate for spreading youth empowerment globally, I firmly believe that the ‘National Podcast’ team is exceptionally well-suited to champion this cause in Namibia.
“Therefore, I am convinced that they deserve the esteemed title of NextGen Impact Namibia, given their dedication to creating meaningful change and empowering the next generation.”
According to Eain, her expectations are straightforward – that the ‘National Podcast’ team will bring forth additional opportunities and empowerment for the youth in the country.
“Beyond that, I envision them serving as a positive example for the youth in Asia and across the globe to look up to and admire,” Eain added.
