Namibian Police report three suicides countrywide over the weekend

Three people allegedly took their own lives over the weekend.

This was confirmed in the weekend crime report by Namibian Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.

At Oshakati, Lempie Muutha (54) allegedly took her own life. Her body was discovered on Friday after she was last seen the day before when she left home to see her doctor, said Shikwambi.

Muutha’s next of kin have been informed of her death.

Her body was taken to the Okahao police mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the body of Alleta Linda Gawachas (34) was discovered at Keetmanshoop on Friday after she allegedly took her own life, said Shikwambi.

It is further alleged that Gawachas had attempted to take her life four times before.

Shikwambi said her next of kin have been informed of her death.

Gawachas’ body was transported to the Keetmanshoop mortuary for an autopsy.

In a separate incident, the body of Rebbeka Kornelia Petrus (39) was discovered at Onambango village at Oshikango after she allegedly took her own life on Friday.

“She left a suicide note,” said Shikwambi.

“No foul play is suspected, and the death was confirmed by a medical doctor at the Engela District Hospital.

“Petrus’ body is at the same hospital for an autopsy,” added Shikwambi.
