Namport bans international trips for employees amid coronavirus fears

NAMIBIA Ports Authority (Namport) has put on hold all international trips for its employees over the coronavirus (Covid-19) fears.

In an internal memo issued this afternoon, acting chief executive officer Kevin Harry told employees that all work related trips outside Namibia including studies have been halted or prohibited until further notice.

"All colleagues who are currently traveling outside Namibia must quarantine themselves at home for 14 days upon their return before they are allowed back at work,”Harry said.

The employees are expected to work from home during this period and report for duty remotely to their supervisors, the statement noted.

The same will apply for those who traveled outside the country in their private capacity.

Namibia has not yet reported any case of the deadly virus.
