NamWater urges customers to update contact details, settle outstanding accounts

The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) is urging all of its retail customers to update their contact details and settle any outstanding bills without delay.

NamWater says some customers have continued consuming water without receiving bills for several years due to the technical challenges NamWater’s billing system is experiencing.

In an effort to improve communication, the utility has rolled out a bulk SMS service to provide customers with account balances, payment reminders, and important service notifications directly via cellphone.

“Unfortunately, the effectiveness of this system has been hindered by a large number of incorrect or outdated customer cellphone numbers. As a result, many customers remain uninformed about their account status.

“To avoid disconnection and ensure continued service, customers are urged to visit their nearest NamWater office and update their contact details by 30 April. In addition, the corporation is appealing to all customers with overdue accounts to make immediate arrangements to settle outstanding balances,” NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndomanomhata says.
