Swapo vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says Namibia’s natural resources must be used to the benefit of the country’s people.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made this remark at a Swapo election campaign meeting at Keetmanshoop in the //Kharas region on Saturday.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said under the banner of Swapo, which she said seeks peace, unity and prosperity for all Namibians, during her tenure as environment and tourim minister she ensured the implementation of conservancies to ensure that local communities benefit from nature and biodiversity within their areas.

She said she is an ardent supporter of creating socioeconomic benefits through entrepreneurial activities such as the Keetmanshoop Agriculture, Industrial and Tourism Expo, the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival and cultural festivals such as that of the |Hai-|Haua Traditional Authority, which she has attended.

“But most importantly, as a caring government I am thankful that we have been able to take care of orphans, vulnerable persons and the elderly through the various social grants the state gives on a monthly basis,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.
