The National Assembly will resume its sittings on Tuesday following a month-long break, parliament spokesperson Sacky Kadhikwa announced in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Kadhikwa, the resumption is a continuation of the seventh National Assembly, which began in February.

He said the assembly will be in session until 13 July.

The seventh session of the seventh parliament is expected to consider several bills, including the high court amendment bill, magistrate court amendment bill, divorce bill, child justice bill, ombudsman bill, marriage bill, land bill and uniform matrimonial property regime bill.

During the recess, Kadikwa said various parliamentary standing committees undertook oversight activities across the country.

The parliamentary standing committee on human resources and community development held public hearings on the motion calling for the write-off of electricity and water debts.
The committee further heard hearings in the Kavango West and East and Zambezi regions on the motion on youth unemployment.

Meanwhile, the committee on foreign affairs, defence and security undertook oversight visits of police accommodation, and military bases countrywide.

The parliamentary standing committee on natural resources and that on economics and public administration held a joint parliamentary committee workshop on maximising the potentials of the mining and energy sectors last week at Swakopmund.
