The National Empowerment Fighting Corruption (NEFC) party is set to release its manifesto at Havana informal settlement at Windhoek on Thursday.
In a media statement on Wednesday, party vice president Stefanus Matheus said the launch will be officiated by party president Kenneth Iilonga in preparation of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He told The Namibian that the party’s goal is to introduce a national pension fund across all the sectors, including security guards and domestic workers. Given the chance, the party also wants to introduce policies that will fast-track access to land for ordinary Namibians. “We cannot be poor and landless at the same time,” he said.
Matheus also said the party wants to give opportunities to people with disabilities. “We are calling on people with deaf impairments to join our party as we want to include them on our list of candidates for the National Assembly,” he said.
Earlier this year, the United People’s Movement (UPM) and NEFC announced the formation of an alliance to support independent candidate Ally Angula for president.
The NEFC and UPM agreed not to select a candidate for the race in the November presidential elections. However, they urged their members to vote for Angula instead while she supports their candidates for the National Assembly. The party was registered with the Electoral Commission of Namibia on 4 February 2020.
