The MTC Volleyball National League fifth round takes place at Ondangwa this weekend.

All matches will be played at the Ondangwa Tennis Club.

Namibia Volleyball Federation chief executive Festus Hamukwaya says there is heightened interest in the first of its kind national league, made possible by a N$3 million three-year sponsorship deal with MTC.

“The national league was officially launched in Windhoek on 11 May, which was the first round. The second round took place in Mariental, the third round was at Rundu and the fourth round took place at Katima Mulilo on 27 July,” Hamukwaya says.

The backing from MTC has given competing clubs and athletes renewed impetus to perform at their best, he adds.

“We have a total of 16 teams. Eight are men’s teams, eight are women’s teams. I am inviting all the sport lovers across the northern regions and the entire country to come and watch the games at Ondangwa on 24 and 25 August.

“The games will kick-off with a street procession at 07h00 from ABC at Ondangwa, to the Ondangwa Tennis Club. The first game is expected to kick off at 09h00 on Saturday,” he says.
