NCCI targets Caprivi, Omaheke to boost business

NCCI targets Caprivi, Omaheke to boost business

THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) will this year target the Caprivi and Omaheke regions to improve businesses there.

Shaanika said in an interview with Nampa last week that there is a need to promote businesses in the Caprivi Region, especially the tourism sector, to enable the region to benefit more from the upcoming 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa as well as the 27th edition of Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in February the same year. “There is a good tourism potential in that region and we want to help businesses to enhance their competency in terms of production, in order to benefit from the two games,” he said.As for the Omaheke Region, Shaanika said the Chamber seeks to partner with the Gobabis municipality to coordinate efforts on how to assist small businesses at the town.”In fact we are encouraging various town councils and municipalities to sign a memorandum of understanding with us, so that we can put our heads together to help SMEs in their respective towns,” Shaanika stressed.Last year, the Otjiwarongo Municipality became the first town to sign a memorandum of understanding with the NCCI for the same reason, and according to Shaanika consultations with the Gobabis municipality will be pursued soon. However, Shaanika pointed out that this did not mean that other towns are excluded from this initiation, as this is just the beginning.Nampa”There is a good tourism potential in that region and we want to help businesses to enhance their competency in terms of production, in order to benefit from the two games,” he said.As for the Omaheke Region, Shaanika said the Chamber seeks to partner with the Gobabis municipality to coordinate efforts on how to assist small businesses at the town.”In fact we are encouraging various town councils and municipalities to sign a memorandum of understanding with us, so that we can put our heads together to help SMEs in their respective towns,” Shaanika stressed.Last year, the Otjiwarongo Municipality became the first town to sign a memorandum of understanding with the NCCI for the same reason, and according to Shaanika consultations with the Gobabis municipality will be pursued soon. However, Shaanika pointed out that this did not mean that other towns are excluded from this initiation, as this is just the beginning.Nampa
