Ndapewa joins NBC current affairs

After saying goodbye to ‘Whatagwan’ in May last year, TV presenter, producer and reporter, Ndapewa Ambambi, has found love for something else.

She is now one of the presenters of ‘Good Morning Namibia’ and a producer of news and current affairs show ‘The Daily Roundup with Nina’ and a reporter for the NBC News.

Ambambi says entering the industry at a young age really is not as glamorous as people think.

“You meet with many challenges and much more reluctance than acceptance. I think the most important part is finding a solid support system and also being steadfast in what brought you to the industry in the first place. You should be able to navigate all the challenges that the industry throws at you,” she says.

Ambambi says as someone who is passionate about the entertainment scene and a media and journalism graduate, it is important to learn the different aspects of the media industry. She says leaving ‘Whatagwan’ has allowed her to broaden her horizon and take on new challenges.

Ambambi says working in front of the camera for built her confidence and allowed her to grow both as a person and as a brand.

“I’m a living testament to the saying that “choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”. I will always remember how surreal it was to go from watching ‘Whatagwan’, as a kid growing up, to standing on the stage and having to present it. I will remember the show for teaching me what my dreams are worth and showing me that they are indeed attainable,” she says.

Ambambi says one of the biggest lessons she learnt as a presenter was to be able to accept criticism.

“In my field, doing research and being knowledgeable on almost everything is key. When you are a news and current affairs presenter, you need to broaden your interest, knowing your facts, being creative and thinking on your feet, being open to change, and not memorising your script because it can change five minutes before you go on air. I’ve learned this the hard way,” she says.

Ambambi has been in the limelight since 2019 when she presented the Namibian Annual Music Awards blue carpet with Adriano Visagie.
She is the youngest of four sisters and describes herself as an ambivert, strong-willed and driven.

“Besides my non-approachable looking face, I’m actually quite the sweetheart. My personality is entirely bubbly and I’m loud around those that I’m most comfortable with. I love networking. I enjoy having a good time and dislikes mean people,” she says.
Ambambi says she spends her free time at home, reading.

“My mornings and evenings are usually my me-time. If I’m not listening to music or dancing in the mirror then I’m on a call with my parents. I grew up a very charismatic child. My parents always ensured that we never lacked for anything and believed in our dreams. I think they are the biggest reason why I succeed in my life. I know with them and my sisters, I always have a strong team behind me,” Ambambi says.
