Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC), a 50:50 joint venture between the Namibian government and De Beers Namibia Holdings, is seeking an experienced company/consultant to compile a comprehensive Beneficiation Impact Assessment Report.

According to a media advert, the assessment will cover the Namibian diamond industry downstream beneficiation for the period 2007-2022.

NDTC is Namibia’s flagship diamond sorting and valuing company.

The final report should be submitted by 10 September.

The consultant will have to carry out comprehensive economic research to assess the effectiveness of the strategic framework to promote and enhance local beneficiation of diamonds mined in Namibia.

“The consultant is also to carry out an assessment of the utilisation of diamonds downstream for the benefit of the country within the three spheres of sustainable development, namely environment, social, and economic,” said NDTC.

The company also wants the consultant to assess any policy frameworks that enable competitive advantages or disadvantages to the downstream sector because of policy, regulations, and possible strategic beneficiation intervention strategies to further promote downstream beneficiation.

“The consultant will also assess opportunities to grow downstream beneficiation beyond manufacturing, including broader Namibian participation in the value chain,” said NDTC.

Businesses interested in providing these services are requested to submit their profiles and all relevant documents by midnight 31 May, enclosing a comprehensive company profile, alongside other criteria.
