Neff slammed for questioning Dausab’s gender

Yvonne Dausab

Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters parliamentarian Epafras Mukwiilongo has been slammed for questioning the gender of justice minister Yvonne Dausab in parliament on Tuesday.

“Ask the honourable minister his gender – if he is a man or a woman,” Mukwiilongo said, referring to Dausab.

Human rights activist Ndiilo Nthengwe slammed Mukwiilongo’s statement, saying he, like all the so-called ‘progressive’ political parties and politicians in parliament, are as bigoted as they come.

“They are homophobic and insidious,” Nthengwe said.

The activist added that for parliament to allow such bigotry to run amok is proof enough that an enactment of a hate speech bill cannot come soon enough.

“#ShutItAllDownNamibia will continue to confront and challenge bigotry at all levels – from parliament to community, no one will be left unscathed,” Nthengwe said.
