New MP implicated in fatal love triangle

NAMIBIA’s political leadership has been rocked by another sex scandal after a 33-year-old employee of the Eenhana Town Council in the Ohangwena Region committed suicide after discovering that his fiancée had allegedly been impregnated by a prominent politician.

The Namibian has established through sources in the North that when Sheefeni Hosea Lubeni ended his life with a pistol on January 16, he left a note in which he reportedly accused one of Swapo’s new National Assembly lawmakers of “grabbing and impregnating” the woman to whom he was about to be married. The expectant young woman is said to be in a serious state and has also threatened to end her life.Lubeni’s suicide note has apparently become the talk of the town at Eenhana. The Namibian understands that the new member of parliament, whose name is known, has been in the Eenhana area since last week, trying to arrange a meeting with the deceased’s family to protect his name. The Police spokesperson in Eenhana, Constable Hilja Shikongo, confirmed the existence of a suicide note. She said Lubeni had cited “conflict with his girlfriend”.”The Police are aware of the note, there was a conflict between the boyfriend and girlfriend,” stressed Constable Shikongo. She would not elaborate on the nature of the “conflict”.She added that part of the suicide note stated that “the girlfriend should pay back the N$10 000 she owes him (Lubeni)”.When asked if the note mentioned a politician, Constable Shikongo replied: “I am not aware of that at this stage.”In 2003, Festus Ngoloimwe (31) shot dead his four-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself at Oshakati airport, after he accused another prominent politician of stealing his girlfriend. His family had to wait for about five months before gaining access to a suicide note he had left behind, amid allegations of an attempted cover-up by the Police.According to our sources at Eenhana, the latest incident has upset many members of the community, including the family of the dead man.No member of Lubeni’s family could be traced for comment.According to the Police, no charge has been laid yet.The expectant young woman is said to be in a serious state and has also threatened to end her life.Lubeni’s suicide note has apparently become the talk of the town at Eenhana. His family had to wait for about five months before gaining access to a suicide note he had left behind, amid allegations of an attempted cover-up by the Police.According to our sources at Eenhana, the latest incident has upset many members of the community, including the family of the dead man.No member of Lubeni’s family could be traced for comment.According to the Police, no charge has been laid yet.
