Newborn baby found abandoned with brick on head near Kavango West hospital

A newborn baby boy was discovered abandoned in the bushes at Bunya village in the Kavango West region on Tuesday.

Chief inspector Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident, saying the baby was found with a brick on his head.

An unknown suspect, believed to be the baby’s mother, allegedly attempted to kill him with the brick.

“A cattle herder, alerted by the baby’s cries coming from the bushes near Bunya Hospital, found the baby and reported the discovery to the police,” Muronga said.

The police have appealed to residents to assist in identifying the suspect.

Muronga said once apprehended, the suspect will be charged with attempted murder and domestic violence.

The baby was admitted to Rundu State Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police investigations continue.
