TELECOM Namibia has announced that there will be no tariff increases for the rest of the year, nor other price increases for telecommunication products and services, except for call barring services.
Telecom’s Head for Corporate Communications, Ferdinand Tjombe, said the decision not to increase tariffs for the 2005/2006 financial year would help in creating an enabling environment for economic growth and had been taken after a number of considerations. “The fact that the annual inflation and other increases in electricity, water and municipal tax costs have not been factored into this year’s telecommunications tariffs and prices means that all our tariffs and prices have in effect been decreased across the board.”This could translate into a welcome relief to our residential and business customers and especially for the private sector,” said Tjombe.Telecom lowered tariffs for international calls and for calls to South Africa and Angola on July 1 this year.”The fact that the annual inflation and other increases in electricity, water and municipal tax costs have not been factored into this year’s telecommunications tariffs and prices means that all our tariffs and prices have in effect been decreased across the board.”This could translate into a welcome relief to our residential and business customers and especially for the private sector,” said Tjombe.Telecom lowered tariffs for international calls and for calls to South Africa and Angola on July 1 this year.
