THE Namibia Qualifications Authority today announced that Asnath Kaperu will be acting chief executive officer after current head Franz Gertze was arrested for attempted murder last week Saturday.
Gertze subsequently appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court for allegedly shooting at his wife Anittha six times.
He was denied bail, and remanded in custody until 20 February 2020 for more police investigations.
Kaperu, who is the NQA’s deputy chief executive officer, will be acting from 21 November 2019.
“The NQA hereby assures its clients and other stakeholders that modalities have been put in place to ensure that the organisation continues operating efficiently. The matter relating to the CEO, Mr Franz Gertze, is currently sub juice, and the NQA is therefore not in a position to comment on it,” said Gilbert Likando, the NQA council’s chairperson.
Media reports have stated that Anittha, who was in a critical condition, is now in a stable condition.
