National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) president Barry Rukoro officially announced a partnership between Nudo and Swanu of Namibia.
This was revealed during Swanu’s star rally in Windhoek on Saturday.
“We join hands in a powerful partnership to bring real change to our people and Namibia at large.
“Together, Nudo and Swanu are committed to championing the rights and aspirations of every Namibian,” Rukoro said.
He said some of the parties’ objectives are free education and healthcare, jobs, access to ancestral land, genocide and restorative justice, fighting corruption, drought readiness, the professionalisation of sport, and mineral resources.
“We are expecting an apology from Germany. It is an important part of the genocide and restorative justice discussion.
“The question that arises then is how can we reasonably expect to have someone like that have the moral high ground to expect Germany to apologise for the genocide they committed against the Ovaherero and Nama peoples,” he said.
Rukoro said Swapo has failed the nation, and the Fishrot scandal is an example of how government officials sold the country’s resources to benefit themselves, while ordinary Namibians continue to suffer.
“This is the legacy of a government that has lost its way – one that cares more for its elite friends than for the people who trusted them to lead,” he said.
