Nujoma trip ‘was okayed’

A LARGE entourage which accompanied former President Sam Nujoma to Nkurenkuru recently to hold a rally before the town’s first municipal elections was approved and Government paid for the trip, Prime Minister Nahas Angula said yesterday.

He was responding to a question from DTA President Henk Mudge, who had asked who had footed the bill for the trip. According to Clause 6 of the Former President’s Pension and Other Benefits Act, Nujoma was allocated the use of three vehicles, a sedan, a four-wheel-drive and a bakkie.The clause further states that the appropriate number of vehicles would be determined by Cabinet.”The cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance are borne by Government,” Angula said.According to Clause 6 of the Former President’s Pension and Other Benefits Act, Nujoma was allocated the use of three vehicles, a sedan, a four-wheel-drive and a bakkie.The clause further states that the appropriate number of vehicles would be determined by Cabinet.”The cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance are borne by Government,” Angula said.
