FNB Namibia said that its full range of services have since been restored after having had technical issues which seemed to have affected the whole country at around 12:30pm on Monday.
On Monday afternoon, FNB clients complained that they could not withdraw money or swipe, among other difficulties.
The Namibian established that systems which were offline included Ewallet services, transfers and online banking. Not even obtaining bank statements was possible.
Although the doors were open during that period which lasted more than two hours, every client who went in was told the systems were offline till further notice, according to sources.
But the bank’s head of marketing, Tracy Eagles, told The Namibian upon enquiry that during the interruption, core services stayed active.
She, however, could not provide The Namibian with technical information as to what caused the system to be off.
“We had system issues over lunch-time today (Monday), and went into back-up mode. But all was resolved just after 3pm,” she told The Namibian at 5pm on Monday.
The bank further apologised to its clients “for the inconvenience, and we thank our customers for their patience while we were in the process of recovering services”.
