Swapo in the Ohangwena region elected two candidates and four delegates for the party’s electoral college during its regional ordinary conference held over the weekend.
The electoral college is slated for 6 to 7 September.
Natalia Ndaitwah and Darius Shaalukeni, who currently serves as the mayor of Helao Nafidi Town Council, were elected to the electoral college, also known as the ‘pot’.
The delegates elected to represent the region to the college are Tuhafeni Kaindume, Lazarus Shitenga, Tuyeimo Nathingo, and Fransina Kashikola.
Swapo’s regional coordinator for the Ohangwena region, Philemon Joshua, urged party members to remain united by working together and remain loyal to the party at all times.
“Go out there to represent the region well. Always strive to work together and maintain unity at all times. We can only achieve much through unity of purpose and commitment. Let’s support our presidential candidate and Swapo,” he said.
Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa earlier this month announced that the party is in the process of identifying candidates for the electoral college through its internal democratic process within the structures.
The college will have over 200 delegates who will convene to decide on the party’s list for the next National Assembly.
