Okakarara Annual Trade Fair back and bigger

THE 14th edition of the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair, which was suspended for two years due to Covid-19, started at the Okakarara Trade Fair Centre on Monday morning.

Okakarara Trade Fair society chief administrator Golden Katjatako told The Namibian that a total of 120 exhibitors are participating, including corporate companies, SMEs and kapana vendors.

The event is expected to attract over 10 000 visitors, Katjatako said.

The trade fair will also stage a livestock show, with the farming community showcasing their best cattle, small stock and other agricultural products, said Katjatako.

There will also be much fun and entertainment lined up for members of the public, such as a beauty pageant, career fair and music bash on Saturday night, with Afro-pop musician Big Ben, popular group One Blood and Gazza scheduled to perform.

Okakarara mayor Olga Tjiurutue said she is very happy with this year’s edition.

She said she observed that the event is standing on good ground and aims to stimulate local economic development in the region, and eventually contribute to the overall economic success of Namibia, with exhibitors from as far as Kenya and Tanzania.

Vice president Nangolo Mbumba, who is the patron of the trade fair, is expected to officially open this year’s event on Thursday, before it concludes on Saturday, 10 September.
