THE governor of Omusati region, Erginus Endjala, survived a serious accident in which his car caught fire and burnt to a shell between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo on Saturday at around 17h00.
Endjala who was driving his personal vehicle, a Haval SUV was rushed to Windhoek shortly after the accident where he is admitted in a private hospital in a stable condition.
According to Otjozondjupa police spokesperson deputy commissioner Naukalemo Andreas, the accident occurred when Endjala was trying to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle and he crashed into a tree and the car burst into flames.
The governor who was the only occupant in the vehicle, sustained a fractured left arm and other minor body injuries.
