ONGWEDIVA has on Friday sworn in Natasha Iipumbu, a Grade 11 learner at the Mweshipandeka Senior Secondary School, as the new junior mayor of the northern town.

Members of the council are drawn from various schools within the boundaries of Ongwediva town, and serve for a period of two years.

In her acceptance speech at the inauguration ceremony, Iipumbu said: “I am well aware that this position comes with great responsibility, determination, sacrifice and hard work, and I am willing to put these on my shoulders.

While promising to be a great leader, she explained that being part of the leadership is a task that they have been given to be the voice of the young people.

The town’s outgoing junior mayor Rebekka Nghilaluwa also attended the event and the town’s mayor Angelina Angula presided over the oath-taking ceremony. – Nampa.
