Minister of home affairs, immigration, safety and security Albert Kawana officiated the inauguration of the Onhuno police checkpoint in the Ohangwena region on Friday.
The upgrade of the checkpoint includes a checkpoint shelter and office block, with ablution facilities for officers and members of the public.
The total cost of the upgrade is valued at more than N$8 million.
Kawana said the Onhuno police checkpoint is essential as it serves as a critical point for monitoring and regulating traffic flow, ensuring compliance with road safety regulations, and deterring criminal activities on the road.
