Opposed To ‘Dog-eat-dog’ Talk

Opposed To ‘Dog-eat-dog’ Talk

ALLOW me to comment on the report in The Namibian of March 2, 2008 – titled ‘Jerry Ekandjo goes ballistic at Eehana Swapo rally’.

Indeed, like the American Presidential running nominee Barack Obama keeps talking of the “silly” political season – that is definitely what seems to be eating up the Swapo leadership. There is no sensible message coming from the leaders addressing the political rallies. Some leaders have chosen to be abusive, and using threatening language, whilst others are instigating economic sabotage within the region. With only a few sensible ones like the Speaker of the National Assembly saying “people must debate issues, and not personalities.”Who is really speaking for Swapo? Because right now, Swapo needs to be saying and doing the same thing rather than behaving like a disorganised and “leaderless” organisation as their conflicting and contradicting messages are confusing and disturbing to the nation, and members of the international community.Solely, pinpointing a particular racial group to have been responsible for eliminating members of our population is quite irresponsible and devoid of the whole truth.Because history will tell us of many Namibians that Swapo killed in exile, or were left to die in the dungeons of Lubango. It is thus advisable for the minister to talk sense than try to tie his neck to a falling rock.Namibians won’t be cheated that easily. Some reasons why Namibia’s former President Nujoma spearheaded the policy of national reconciliation was to avoid the “dog-eat-dog” mentality. The colonial forces are back in South Africa – should the “comrade” want to revive the debate on missing Namibians, why can’t he support the CoD motion on the dungeons of Lubango? So should he back up the National Society for Human Rights’ ICC Submission meant to find answers surrounding Swapo’s highly guarded secret. It is a fact, whites fought for the independence of Namibia and even died for Namibia – paying the ultimate prize for freedom. Therefore, it is wise not to distort our history with bedtime stories! Namibia is and will always be a multi-cultural society with every root embedded deep in our history.Attacking members of RDP with insults equally demonstrates how distant and ignorant the Member of Parliament is.If there is nothing to say and people have run out of ideas, silence is golden.Let us not forget that what we say might negatively influence our own children, with potential to harm and disturb their innocent minds. Please, political bullying won’t help – it’s time for change!
