Oshikoto man killed by lightning

A man (48) died on Monday after he was reportedly struck by lightning at farm Brest in the Oshikoto region.

On Tuesday, the region’s crime investigation coordinator deputy commissioner Titus Ekandjo said the incident occurred on the D3026 Abenab Road in the Tsumeb constituency at around 18h30.

The deceased has been identified as Asser Marungu.

“It is alleged that Marungu and his co-worker, while clearing and de-bushing a field on the farm, decided to run home when it started raining and got struck by lightning, killing Marungu on the spot,” he said.

Marungu’s body was transported to the Tsumeb Lombardt State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted.

His next of kin have been informed.
