Residents of the Oshikunde constituency say they are frustrated by the delayed opening of a primary health center at Onamafila village.
Despite construction being completed in 2023, the clinic remains closed.
Councillor Lonia Shinana has recently voiced her concerns, highlighting the distress among local residents.
“It has been six years since this clinic was initiated, and people are suffering because they have to spend money they don’t have on transportation to access medical facilities at Okongo, which is about 70 kilometers away,” she said.
Community member Rebecca Daniel said the delay in opening the clinic is detrimental to community members as transport to the health facility at Okongo costs N$100.
“It has been a long time waiting for this clinic to open. Children and older people are affected badly by this,” said Daniel.
