Otjozondjupa sends //Karas packing

OTJOZONDJUPA beat //Karas 1-0 in an uninspired encounter played on Saturday.

A lone goal by Michael Kamuserandu, which came from a well taken penalty kick on the stroke of halftime awarded after towering central defender Petrus Kamati floored Willem Ettien Kamesiepo inside the penalty area.

The referee did not hesitate as he pointed to the penalty spot, and Kamuserandu made sure he buried the resultant spot kick as he sent Granville Swartbooi in the //Karas goals the wrong way for the only goal of the match.

The match turned into a scrappy affair from thereon, with most of the action played in the centre of the field with little activity seen in front of the opposing goals.

Both sets of defenders did well to keep the strikers at bay, while the midfielders lacked creativity to conjure up enough scoring chances for the men upfront.

Otjozondjupa looked a little more aggressive going forward, with Romario Hawiseb and Kamuserandu calling the shots in their engine room, but their strongly built striker Rivaldo Ferdos Hifitikeko lacked the mobility to free himself from the hardtacking central defensive pair of Mitchell Mettler and Petrus Kamati.

At the other end, Paul Vetarera and Mesutuje Ngunovandu also blocked space to //Karas striker Shaun Farmer to manoeuvre. The result means that //Karas are out of the competition.
