Outdated City Information

THE City of Windhoek has an electronic map on its website which is supposed to give access to the information pertaining to erven.

As a business tool this is extremely helpful in many aspects. However, the map is woefully inadequate.New streets are not being entered, name changes of streets are not being effected.Information on the different erven is simply not available and the valuation roll information attached is only as new as 2001.Upon phoning the CoW, I was informed that the map should be updated in the next few months. As to the valuation roll information; the person responsible did not know whether the new roll had been approved and if it would be entered on the computer system. This raises several questions? What is going on at the CoW? We all know that rates have gone up due to the new roll, so why has it not been accepted as official? Surely we can expect increased service with increased charges, especially when we know that the public sector pays quite a bit more than the private sector.Should CoW not be called to task for the lackadaisical service provided to the ratepayer? What is the position of the City Council on these matters and when will the public be informed? Surely it is not too much to ask to have a fully functioning and up-to-date map when we consider the massive size of the IT department of CoW?Jens la Barre WindhoekHowever, the map is woefully inadequate.New streets are not being entered, name changes of streets are not being effected.Information on the different erven is simply not available and the valuation roll information attached is only as new as 2001.Upon phoning the CoW, I was informed that the map should be updated in the next few months. As to the valuation roll information; the person responsible did not know whether the new roll had been approved and if it would be entered on the computer system. This raises several questions?
