More than 60 people are believed to have died when an American Airlines plane and army helicopter crashed near Washington DC.
The regional passenger jet collided with a United States (US) Army Black Hawk helicopter before crashing into the Potomac River near Reagan Washington National Airport, Reuters reports.
BBC reports that the American Airlines flight, which was coming from Wichita, Kansas, was approaching Ronald Reagan National Airport around 21h00 local time on Wednesday when the crash took place.
District of Columbia fire chiefJohn Donnelly was quoted saying: “At this point, we do not believe there were any survivors. We will work to recover all the bodies and reunite them with their loved ones.”
